Frequently Asked Questions

When you can easily google almost anything you want to know about birth, it makes sense that many view birth class attendance as optional. However, here in Georgia, we are constantly lagging behind the rest of the country in terms of maternal and infant health outcomes, and while that is largely due to systemic, top-down problems in healthcare, we can also offset these devastating realities by being informed. The best way to make sure everyone on your birth team is on the same page is to get you and your partner or support person in a room together and have someone with expertise walk you through what to expect, support your planning, arm you with tools to locate reliable resources and vet any information you come across, and bolster your confidence to advocate for your needs and desires. Though we often quip that our desired outcome is “Healthy mom, healthy baby,” this is the bare minimum—and it shouldn’t just mean making it out of your birth experience alive! It should encompass all aspects of health—physical, yes, but also emotional, mental, spiritual, and beyond.

I currently offer my Birth/Date class designed for couples interested in an interactive, fun atmosphere that incorporates childbirth and postpartum education with fun “date” activities. I plan to offer more classes in the future geared toward a mix of partnered and unpartnered expecting parents, as well as classes for teen or very young adult parents.

All classes are held in or just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, where I live. This is a one-woman operation, but I am happy to direct you toward to the CAPPA or Evidence Based Birth databases of Childbirth Education providers if you are not local and want a reputable class to attend!

We offer flexible pricing based on project type and complexity. After an initial conversation, we’ll provide a transparent quote with no hidden costs.

Expecting parents who are looking for evidence-based, up-to-date information presented in an interactive, fun format will love my classes. I make every effort to ensure that participants feel safe, included, and heard.

I am certified by CAPPA as a Childbirth Educator—a body that trains and certifies Childbirth Educators like myself, lactation educators, labor and postpartum doulas, and infant and family educators. CAPPA provides certifications for medical personnel (RNs, midwives, etc) looking to provide quality education to patients at their facility, but also to non-medical educators like myself.
-
No! CAPPA educators do not provide medical advice to class participants—we offer evidence-based educational information and resources that allow families to select a provider that suits their specific needs and desires, communicate their wishes effectively with their maternity care team, and build a safe and realistic plan for late pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
